Tricks and Treats and Snow

So yesterday I just said a "Happy Halloween" and threw up a year comparison pic of Mags, but let's not gloss over what happened this weekend, folks....it freakin' SNOWED!!!!

Now during the winter, I am a weather channel junkie and I keep my finger on the pulse of the snow forecasts constantly. When I was working full time, I would get really anxious about the snow and worry about having to drive in it. Now that I stay at home, I worry about the hubs and the crazy drivers that are driving around him. But for obvious reasons (like we don't live in Antarctica or anywhere near where it snows before November) I wasn't really paying attention to the weather this week, until they said something about snow. But then they said that it was too warm for it to accumulate and it would just be a nuisance, nothing more. Then they said that it might accumulate a little, but it wouldn't start until Saturday night, late. Then I woke up on Saturday morning and it was snowing, and by the time the hubs woke up an hour later, it was accumulating. By 12pm, we had about 4 inches on the cars and grass and about 2 inches on the street. We were both incredulous.

Then at 12:30, the power went out. I called the electric company and they said the electricity would be back on by 2:50pm. Not too bad. We hung out with Mags and played. Then 3pm came and went. I called the electricity company back and they said that the electricity wouldnt be on now until 8:50pm. We decided to brave it and make the trek to the inlaws, to wait it out there. We packed up and made the journey. On the way there, we called the electricity company again, just to see because knowing my luck the electricity came back on the minute we left. This time they informed us that our electricity would not be back on until 5:15.....pm.....THE NEXT DAY!!!!

Needless to say we were happy that we made the decision to evacuate (even though I called later that evening, around 8:30pm, and it said that the electricity had been restored). We had a great time hanging with my in-laws. We watched Charlie Brown Halloween with Mags and then when she went to bed we watched Pirates 4. Fun night.

The next day we had planned to celebrate my birthday (yep, it's that time again, another year older....CANNOT believe it...oh well, just means that I'm old....LOL). We had my favorite birthday dish, chicken divan and an absolutely sinful chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. I was hurting after that meal!

After the festivities, we made it home and were very happy to see that our power was in fact, on.

So yesterday was Halloween and Mags and I hung out the majority of the day. We went out shopping with some of Mommy's birthday gift cards and then we came home and waited for Daddy to get home. Once he got home we were off to the Halloween party. It's the same one that we went to last year, but of course this year was a little different. We decided to try trick-or-treating with Mags since she's walking now. It was cold and there was still some snow on the ground, but she seemed to enjoy herself.

{The ONLY pic we could get inside before trick-or-treating because someone was running around like a mad woman}

{The first house, with a little help from Daddy}

{Trudging along (see the snow on the right???)}

{Starting to get the hang of it...}

{She kept losing her hand in this sleeve, I'm sure that was confusing....LOL}

{Finally got it...sort of (she would take a piece of candy and then put it back...lol)}

After the trick-or-treating we went back to the party and had a great time. All in all, I think we had a great 1st trick-or-treating experience!

How was your Halloween?? Hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday!!!!

Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hope that you have fun today, whatever you do!!!

Your Three Words

15 months

Hey everyone! Sorry that I have been a little MIA this week, but my mom was in town, and we were super busy. She was only able to stay for two days, but we packed a lot into them! We went to the park, a play date and a Halloween party. It was fun and busy!

Super smiles for Grammy

Doing what we love best, walking around in our costume at the Halloween Party

And then there's the also the fun fact that Mags turns 15 months yesterday! Can you believe it? Seriously it feels like we JUST celebrated her 1st birthday and yet here we are, a quarter of the 2nd year down! Craziness....

This time last year.....

And now, yesterday's photo shoot...

Like our little mohawk??? The hair is getting longer, but sticking up and not down....LOL

So what have you been up to this month?

-Hello, WALKING!!!! That's a huge milestone, that you have accomplished and we couldn't be prouder. You love to walk everywhere now and it is your most favorite thing to do!

- You are starting to say some things that we actually understand, "MaMa", "Daddy", "See ya" and "All done", but you still babble a lot of gibberish all the time. It is adorable!

- Still wearing size 4 diapers, and you are between sizes now, but you mostly wear 18 months.

-You still love books and lately you have also shown interest in your blocks, too!

- You love pretending to talk on the phone, and you will use anything to pretend...it is so funny!

As always, so proud of you and so blessed to be your Mommy! Love you!

Hope you are having a great Friday and that you have a great weekend!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

First of all a Mags update. Sunday night was a little rough and Mags ended up sleeping in until 8:45am, which meant no swim class. I think the explanation for the trouble is that her mouth is exploding with teeth and she has a little sniffle, so we spent Monday relaxing. Yesterday we went to a pumpkin painting party with the Mom's group, but again Mags wasn't in the best mood, so she didn't seem to enjoy herself that much. We came home, had lunch and then she took a nap for over 3 hours. She woke up in a much better mood and she also slept really well last night. Today we are hanging out at home because the weather is gross and it is the perfect day to just sit around and cuddle.

Ok so on to what I am loving today....

Well I almost always love Netflix (except when they are raising prices or having technical difficulties) but I just realized that they have some of my fave guilty pleasure, yes I am a teenager trapped in a 30 year old's body, shows....

WOOT WOOT!! Now I get to catch up on all of last year's drama and silliness... this seriously made my day...no need to tell me, I know... I'm lame! LOL

I am totally loving this motivation....

I'm not making a huge deal about it on the blog (I did post a ticker alllllll the way at the bottom of the blog) but I am back on the weight loss train. I have a goal in mind and I know that I want to weigh a lot less and be more healthy by the time we go to Disney next year. This little graphic is good to know, but I have to keep reminding myself, this is for me and no one else....

And of course like always, I am loving Pinterest....

I LOVE optical illusions, but seriously this one took waaaaaaay too long to figure out. I actually had to have the hubs come and take a look at it, and while we were both looking at it, I got it. Try it, it's fun!

And last but assuredly not least, for the Magster....these uber adorable pjs. I want to start the tradition of giving new holiday jammies and a holiday book on Christmas Eve, so these are the ones that I picked out for this year. Aren't they adorable???

I love the bright, cheery red and the reindeer footies. Can't wait to take lots of pics of her in them on Christmas morning.

So what are you loving this Wednesday?? Hope you're having a great day!!!

Weekend Rewind

Good Monday morning to you all! Hope that you had a fun and restful weekend.

We had a lot of fun this weekend. On Saturday, we attended our friend Colleen's wedding. It was an all day affair and Maggie spent the day with our friend Jean. We were very happy to hear that Maggie was on her best behavior and that they had a great time.

On Sunday, we headed over to a local farm for some fall activities. And since I am a huge fan of the "Let's compare this to last year...." here are some comparison pics from our pumpkin patch visit last year....

HA! Look at the little grump pot on the left...she was not having a lot of fun that day as I explained here. And then my big girl on the right....LOVE it!

We had so much fun yesterday at the farm. This year we decided to try somewhere different and we don't regret it. They had horse drawn wagon rides.

Enjoying the sights on the wagon ride

They also had a little hay maze that we tried to get Maggie to go through. The hay was a little more exciting than the actual maze...

Then we got to pet a goat!

We had such a great time and made some awesome memories!!!

And to end our fall adventure we partook in some yummy caramel apples, that were freshly made as we waited. All in all a spectacular day! We really got to check a lot off of our fall bucket list.

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Walking on Sunshine

Not at all a comment on the weather, because it is NASTY out there. Rainy, foggy and cold. My fave.....NOT! It's the kind of weather that makes you want to cuddle up with the ones you love and not go anywhere!

But I digress....the title refers to a small feat that little Mags has finally accomplished. Oh you know, WALKING. It started officially, yesterday. Over the weeks, Mags has been getting more and more confident but yesterday she just really took off. Instead of dropping down and crawling between things, she just started walking. And as expected it is the locked knee, Frankenstein, cutest walk ever. She is still a little wobbly, also as expected, and it is too adorable.

I got a little bit of video this morning. It's not the best, but it gives you an idea....

Needless to say I cried and I am just sooo proud!!! I can't believe how big my little girl is getting....

Hope you are having a great Thursday!!!

3 years ago today....

I married my best friend...and it might sound cliche, but it is the truth!

If you are interested in the details of the day, I talked about them here last year.

Here are some pics that I didn't include last year, but I really think they capture who we really are...

We are both pretty introverted, so the wedding took a lot out of us. Don't get me wrong, it was a blast, just exhausting....

Oh yea and we're pretty big nerds, too. This is us re-enacting our excitement after finding out we were going to Cancun for our honeymoon.

And here we are three years later. Our anniversary dinner on Saturday was AMAZING, and as you can see I survived Maggie's sleepover. And speaking of the silly pants, can't have a post without a pic of her.....

And no, your eyes do not deceive you, we almost have two whole front teeth, ladies and gents.

Mag's mouth is just about exploding with teeth right now. Which might explain why we had a little meltdown at the farm trip today with the Mommy group. It might have also had something to do with the fact that the trip coincided exactly with nap time. Not sure which it was, but either way total Mom Fail and no pics. Oh well, we are planning a family trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend, so I will be on the ball then.

So in review....Happy Anniversary to the hubs, love you the mostest. Teething is for the birds. And I WILL take pics this weekend at the pumpkin patch.

Hope you're having a great Tuesday!!!

Your Three Words

If, If, If.......
  • If I were to get pregnant again, I would be elated. I don' t think my body, the hubs or our finances are ready, but I am. We want to wait until Mags is around 2 before we start TTC again, but right now I have a touch of the baby fever. It seems like everyone around me is announcing they're pregnant, and I keep seeing all these cute sonogram pics and then uber cute newborn pics.....ACK!!!
  • If I could have any job in the world, I would love to have a full time job where I could work at home, so I could still be with Mags. It would a lot easier if I had a full time job with benefits, but it would be ideal if I could also stay home to do it.....dreams.
  • If I had a day to myself (and finances and calories weren't an issue), I would sleep in, have a HUGE breakfast, have a shopping spree at KOP (a mega mall around here), then get a mani/pedi and massage and then have some sushi.....
  • If I could get married all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat and I wouldn't change a thing.
  • If I could live anywhere in the U.S., it would be somewhere with a more temperate climate like, Florida or California. No more snow or bitter cold winters for this gal.
  • If I were to have more children, I would love to have a boy. Don't get me wrong, girls are awesome, I just want the experience of both....
  • If I could have any talent in the world, I would love to be able to dance professionally. I love to watch people that can really dance.
  • If you met me in real life, you might think I am cold, standoffish, and a little B****y....I have had a lot of people tell me that is what they thought of me when they first met me....LOL. I don't get offended by this anymore because I am working on it and I know that it is just my self consciousness when I meet new people....like I said I'm working on it.
  • If I went back to school, I would LOVE to go back to school and get a Master's in English so that one day I could teach college English.
  • If money were not an object, we would have a bigger house, nicer cars, and there would be A LOT less stress in our lives.
  • If I could meet one celebrity, I would like to meet Oprah or Ellen. I find both of these women soooo inspirational.
  • If I could shop at only one store for the rest of my life, it would be Target. They have EVERYTHING!!!
  • If I could choose an animal/pet, I would love to get a dog one day, but we just don't have the space right now. We are pretty decided on a retriever of some sort, either a lab or a golden.
  • If I could go on a trip right now, I would love to go somewhere that feels really feels like fall. With beautiful trees that have changed, apple cider, pumpkin picking, hayrides, the whole nine yards...
  • If I had to choose between a house cleaner and personal chef, this is a tough one. I really don't like to do either, but since my husband is a pretty good cook and we both hate to clean, I would go for the house cleaner.
  • If I had the option to get plastic surgery, I would maybe get a nose job and some liposuction. But I'm not sure what kind of message that would send to Mags, so probably not....

And some pics from the park the other day....

This weekend is technically our 3rd anniversary weekend, so the hubs and I are going out to one of our fave Mexican restaurants, and Mags is having a sleepover at Nana and PopPop's. The last sleepover didn't go so well....for Mommy, so hopefully this time I can keep it together. Wish me luck! What are your weekend plans??

Hope you're having a great Friday and that you have a wonderful weekend!

Christmas Cards

Yes, you heard me right. Christmas cards. I know it's only October 4th, but I take Christmas cards very serious and you need time to plan a really nice card.
Last year, we had our first card with Mags and I loved it. This year I am looking to do something a little different, but I haven't really decided what I want to do.
Luckily, there are to the rescue.
I put in some parameters for their holiday cards and I was greeted by 379 amazing card choices. After about a half an hour, I think I have the contenders narrowed down....

I really like this card format and I like the color combo. Not sure about all the pictures, though. It looks like this card might be best suited for larger families.....

I really like this one because I am contemplating just having a pic of Mags on our card. I love the font and the deep, rich red. Jury's still out on the pics....

And last but not least, there's this one. I love the plaid and the wooden aspect of the card. This card is very similar to the card that we went with last year, in regards to the three horizontal pictures. Not sure if I want to do that again.

I am also slightly throwing around the idea of an ornament card like this

So long story, short, still not sure which card I am going to choose or what we are going to do about the pictures, but in the end I know I will be heading to
Hope that you are having a great Tuesday!

Disclosure: I will be receiving 50 holiday cards in return for writing this post. No other compensation was received. All opinions expressed are 100% honest and my own.

Weekend Recap

Good Morning! Hope that your Monday is treating you well!

First things first, we have a winner for the Juppy Baby Walker.

Im a GFC follower
"The McKennas"

Christyn

Congratulations Christyn, I will be emailing you to get your information!

So how was your weekend? Our weekend was nice and relaxing! We basically just hung out the whole time. We went out for a little bit on Saturday, but Sunday, we were lazy bums. It was great!!!! I really love taking the time to recharge our batteries. October is looking to be pretty busy, so we need this down time.

But here are some pics before we went out on Saturday....

Here's our little Phillie's fan hydrating up before we head out. And if you look real close on her right cheek, that would be a tiny bruise that Mags acquired when she face planted on her learning table. That's what happens when you try to hold something and you're not too steady on your feet. We're getting there....LOL (Also, not sure why she has a pout on...)

I really like this pic of Mags that Brian took, but for whatever reason my flash didn't go off. So, I tried to salvage it with Picnik. Eh....

All those toys and it is something like the baby monitor that excites her.....Like that outfit?? The shirt says that her heart belongs to Daddy, no lie there!!!

Hope that you had a great weekend and also, that you are having a wonderful Monday!!!!
